Suffolk County Council have recently launched a consultation on home-to-school travel.
Proposals will change current policy in September 2019, so that children only get free transport to their nearest school, rather than to their catchment school, which is the current policy.
There is a concern that if this new policy were to be introduced, around 3,700 children across Suffolk might no longer qualify for free home-to-school travel. Parents would be faced with the choice of organising their own transport or moving their child to a different school, mid-way through their education.
Thurston Community College is asking all parents and carers of school age children as well as parishioners of all affected villages to please respond to this consultation.
